Giuseppe Mario Frezza, artist from Catania, approached painting since was a boy, taking the first steps in the study of Master Gio' Vanchieri and graduating at the Academy of Fine Arts in Catania with a thesis entitled "Inverse Trails - The Art in the Bank, the Bank for Art ". Student of Master of folk painting of Sicilian carts Domenico Di Mauro, Giuseppe Mario Frezza has pursued his passion for art, parallel to his banking profession, experimenting with different techniques, from watercolor to engraving, but in particular specializing himself and emerging in pastel painting, with which he produced his most successful and affecting works, stealing and reproducing on the canvas the colors and the lights of our Sicilian land, depicting with vivid expressiveness our landscapes, smells and tastes, in archetype subjects that strikes our mood immediately, taking us back to our deepest memories and emotions that bind us inextricably to our homeland.
The theme that is imposed in the works of Frezza is the nature, pristine and a harbinger of deep emotions, reproduced with soft colors as that vigorous, in the wake of the Sicilian popular tradition that we find in carts or in the votive aedicules, which take us back to our past and to the memory of our history. In the works of Frezza therefore we admire not only the most evocative glimpses of our city, such as Erice backyards or alleys of Taormina or Etna smoking craters, bubbling between the arid volcanic rocks, but also the simplicity of an old cupboard, through whose glass we recognize food and objects that recall tastes and smells, as kept in a box of ancestral memories, ready to be emitted and evoked.
The works of Frezza, appreciated by critics and the public, have been shown in exhibitions and personal in Sicily and abroad, at the "Salon d’art de vivre italien" in Paris, the seventh edition of the “Week of the Italian Language in the World” in Geneva (Switzerland), the Industrie et Commerce Italian in Dubai (UAE), Innsbruck (Austria).
